SpamAssassin
is a mail filter used to identify
spam. It is an intelligent email
filter which uses a diverse range of
tests to identify unsolicited bulk
email, more commonly known as Spam.
These tests are applied to email
headers and content to classify email
using advanced statistical methods.
SpamAssassin is highly accurate in spam identification and catches up to 95 percent of all spam e-mail with its default settings, while providing a very low false-positive identification rate of less than 0.5 percent. This means that less than 5 in every 1000 emails are incorrectly marked as spam.
